The Art of Exploring Connections

This project explores the relationships between artificial intelligence (AI), the brain, and social networks. Central to this exploration are interviews with participants whose narratives are analyzed using large language models and machine learning technologies to unearth connections within and between their experiences.

The Interview

The interview probes how individuals navigate various life contexts, including their natural surroundings, social and digital ecosystems, and creative spaces to build their mental maps. You will be asked questions about interacting with your community, personal and professional creation, using digital technology, and similar contexts. The introductory interview is 30-45 minutes, followed by an in-depth 90-120 minute interview two to three weeks later.

Join the Project

For anyone living or working in Malden, Somerville, Everett, Medford, or Cambridge:

  • Did you have a relationship with the historical industry sector, such as General Electric and Monsanto?

  • Are you an artist living or working in community projects or environmental justice groups directly related to the Mystic River and affected communities?

  • Are you in the Cambridge tech sector managing virtual networks, operationalizing genetic networks, developing machine learning tools, or researching topological networks?

  • Do you develop policy or organized labor in the highlighted cities?

  • Are you a creative that’s at the intersection of any of the above?

Then you should participate. You will also receive a professional portrait.

This project is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, Malden Cultural Council Grant, Somerville Arts Council, and the Council for the Arts at MIT.

The Bell Rock Cemetery in Malden Center, MA, is situated in the original path of the Malden River.
